Congress Passes Historic Medicare Reform to SGR
On April 15, the U.S. Congress overwhelmingly passed a measure to permanently reform the Sustainable Growth Rate (SGR) for Part B physician payment. The measure, the Medicare Access and Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) Reauthorization Act (H.R. 2), reforms the Medicare physician payment system, helps slow healthcare cost growth, and extends healthcare coverage for children. President Obama has pledged to sign the legislation into law, officially ending the SGR era. Click here for more information.
