CMS Extends HIPAA Version 5010 Enforcement Deadline to June 30, 2012; CMS Webinar Presentations Available
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has announced an extension of the enforcement deadline for HIPAA Version 5010 standards to June 30, 2012. The extension means that CMS will not initiate enforcement action for an additional three months, through June 30, 2012, against any covered entity that is required to comply with the updated transactions standards adopted under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA): ASC X12 Version 5010 and NCPDP Versions D.0 and 3.0. Read the complete content of the CMS announcement in the VAR In the Know Forum on the Invision Board. All of the 5010 sales and marketing tools will be updated next week to reflect the new date.
In other 5010 news, the ANSI 5010 Tools post  on the Invision Board has been updated with three regional presentations from CMS on the state of the transition for Medicare. The presentations include:
  • Current conversion statistics
  • Top 10 concerns impacting the 5010 transition
  • Status of current Version 5010 standard system maintainer fixes
  • Top 10 version 5010 edits
  • PC-Ace Pro32
